Introduction Hatha Yoga Series

This course is a series of mat-based classes that methodically introduces students to the essential techniques and practices of Hatha Yoga, based on the Sivananda style. The goal of this series is to give the student all the essential elements of the hatha yoga practice so they can build their own home-based practice. This class is ideal for both new and experienced students as it provides detailed instruction to all the essential 4 components of yoga including breathing (pranayama), subtle exercise (pawanmuktasana), dynamic warm-up (surya namaskar vinyasa), and poses (asana).

This course is highly educational, interactive, and will provide practical systematic instruction of asanas and exercises. Classes take the form of a workshop providing opportunities to ask questions, obtain coaching, and practice techniques. In 10 classes or less, the essentials of breath, subtle and dynamic exercises and poses can be understood.

This course is for anyone:

  • New to yoga and seeking education on fundamentals to build a personal yoga practice
  • Interested in learning yoga at a much slower pace without being rushed
  • Experienced in yoga and looking for more detailed education to refine their practice
  • Fearful of participating in existing yoga classes due to unfamiliarity of postures or speed of classes
